Looking at toys together

During play time, see if you can get your child chatting and paying attention to toys.

This fun activity gets your child up and about, exploring the world and their favourite toys. Start off by looking around the house and bringing together some of their favourite objects. These can be their toys, books or just things they like.

Brings these things together. Ask your child to tell you what they all are.

Sit together and pick things up one at a time. Ask your child to have a go at describing the object. Is it smooth or rough? Soft or hard? What colour is it?

Praise your child when they describe it to you and help them if they get stuck.

Good to know

Playing with toys helps children to explore language, different textures and sounds.
