Bath time nursery rhyme

This rhyme about five little ducks keeps little ones entertained at bath time.

Make up your own actions and ‘quack’ noises for the rhyme. See if your baby laughs or tries to join in for parts of it. This rhyme also helps your baby start to learn about numbers. Hold up the numbers on your hand and help them count down.

It goes like this:

Five little ducks went swimming one day
Over the hill and far away

Mother duck said, “Quack quack quack quack”
And only four little ducks came back!

Four little ducks went swimming one day
Over the hill and far away

Mother duck said, “Quack quack quack quack”
And only three little ducks came back!

Three little ducks went swimming one day
Over the hill and far away

Mother duck said, “Quack quack quack quack”
And only two little ducks came back!

Two little ducks went swimming one day
Over the hill and far away

Mother duck said, “Quack quack quack quack”
And only one little duck came back!

One little duck went swimming one day
Over the hill and far away

Mother duck said, “Quack quack quack quack”
And all her five little ducks came back!

This rhyme is a fun way to start learning maths and helps to develop motor skills, which will help with learning to write.
