Use your child's name in a book

Make your child the main character and read about their adventures in a book

Ask your child to pick out one of their favourite books, then read it together. As you go, switch the main character’s name with your child’s name. For example, ‘Peppa Pig’ can become ‘Tommy Pig’.

Using your child’s name helps them stay interested in the story. You can let them make things up to add to the story in the book.

It doesn’t have to be the main character. You can put family members, friends or family pets into the story too.

Good to know

Using your child’s name in a book will help to build their confidence and feel valued.
