Wheels on the bus

Start singing the song and ask your child to suggest other things on the bus and what sound they make.

Sit with your child on your lap or next to you. See if they’ll sing along with you. Hand actions will help them remember the song. Move your hand around for the bus, back and forth for the wipers, and press an imaginary horn when you ‘beep’.

The wheels on the bus go round and round,
round and round,
round and round,

The wheels on the bus go round and round,
all day long.

The wipers on the bus go swish, swish, swish,
Swish, swish, swish,
Swish, swish, swish

The wipers on the bus go swish, swish, swish,
all day long

The horn on the bus goes beep, beep, beep,
Beep, beep, beep,
Beep, beep, beep

The horn on the bus goes beep, beep, beep,
all day long.

You can also sing this song while out and about to keep your child entertained. Ask them to suggest things they can see and hear. It encourages them to pay attention to their surroundings.

Good to know

Children learn about actions and movement from this rhyme and will get a sense of what’s around them.
